i just want to apologize to all my avid readers out there..... *cricket *cricket i havent updated this in a looooong time. so here i am in term 2! my mentor is Jeremy Cantor, the grand master of all things animated... actually he did right a book on it :) coolest guy, and very strict. but i like i good challenge. for the first assignment i did a heel click as shown below. this was a fun assignment because we really get to start adding personality and zest to our animation. we are learning what it is to show weight and balance, and everything is based off of the hips. very cool stuff. i feel like im relearning how to walk.... but its awesome!
heres the planning i did for this guy
and some video reference... very crucial step. and yes this is me!
class 1 summary
well, ive finished class 1. it was an awesome ride and i learned a tone! heres a demo reel of everything i did:

week8&9
and in week 8 and 9 we started to study walk cycles. really cool things happening here, plus we got to start animating bipeds!
week7
ok, so in week7 it really started getting interesting for me. we had to animate tailor, and squirl like character, and we got to show some personality in our animation! here we focused on overlapping action like before, but also incorporating some squash and stretch as well as a little humor....
wow, there has been so much going on since i was last here! this is my 7th week of AM and its still the coolest place ever! ive been learning so much and i feel like animation is finally making sense. its really neat to be able to see something in your head and be able to duplicate it without having the computer limit you. last week i finished a challenging assignment of overlapping action with a pendulum. and just for fun i added a couple of bouncing balls...
the week before that i had to animate a bouncing ball that went through an obstacle course. this assignment focused on squash and stretch.
and the week before that i animated the heavy and light bouncing balls. this assignment focused on using space and timing to show believable weight.

im afraid i havnt been the best at keeping this blogging thing up.... here i am in week 4 of AM, which has been an amazing ride so far. two weeks ago i had the privilege of getting some feed back from Aaron Hartlinehttp://aaronhartline.blogspot.com/ an animator at Pixar!
Also my mentor Anthony Wong, is from Pixar too and currently
he is working on cars 2.
last week we had an emphasis on observation. we had to sketch people in
excitement and try to capture the idea in our sketch here is what i came up with
so my teacher was talking about the importance of observation. he said that creativity comes from what you observe. then i realized thats why its so important to guard what you look at. because what you take in mentally comes out in your creativity.
we also did our first animation this week! we had to animate a bouncing ball. this was really cool because i am starting to learn the real way a work flow should go. it was a lot simpler than i thought and it was cool to only focus on the weight and timing of the bounce and how the arcs effected it. after many hours of staring at a ball bouncing by itself i finaly came up with what i found to be acceptable. i present to you.... my bouncing ball:
.
well im actually supposed to be working on my homework right now.
this week we have to animate two bouncing balls. double the fun!!!!
stay posted for the results!
